Using Twitter: Ethos Debate Publications

Technology can improve communication if used appropriately: I bring experience in both to my clients, enabling them to find the right medium for their messages.

Intro: Ethos Debate founder Isaiah McPeak approached me about redesigning his website. He needed a new approach: the look and feel of the site needed updating. He was also interested in more functionality, but unsure of what that meant and how it helped him.

Problem: The site should connect with his audience: debate students, and their coaches & parents. The current site offered a blog, but nothing else. We determined that he needed a dynamic homepage--what's Isaiah saying/reading/doing right now? We also discovered an obstacle: his available time.

Solution: I recommended that Isaiah create a professional Twitter account and utilize it as a low-cost, accessible way of keeping his audience current with his activities and thoughts.

Whenever a visitor sees Isaiah's site, they are presented with his latest posting and given the opportunity to stay connected via Twitter.

Now: Isaiah can post updates on products, events, and links to relevant articles from anywhere. A few seconds of his time, and every visitor to his site can connect with its principal. I also added a live chat-back feature to enable Isaiah's audience to talk with him instantly. The site builds a conversations about debate that engages everyone.
